This book contains articles on authoritarianism and democracy movements in Taiwan, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Like Korean society, most societies in Southeast Asia experienced military authoritarian rule and anti-dictatorship struggles after being established as newly independent countries through colonial rule. Therefore, through their historical experiences, it can be an opportunity to reflect on the democratization and human rights movements that Korean society has walked, and it will be an opportunity to understand the Gwangju Uprising more objectively academically.
